How to get your Text Books Paid for

As if paying for tuition isn't nerve racking enough for an individual, it's now time to buy books for all of the classes on one's schedule for the next semester. Where exactly is all the money supposed to come from? Isn't the idea of attending college so that one might prosper academically in order to obtain that high paying job? There has to be a way to get someone else to pay for college books, right? Well there are scholarships out there that are primarily for college books. Anyone who has gone to their universities book store knows that prices can be outrageous, so why not get help with those pocket blasting costs.

As with any scholarship, an individual has to do their research. Some full or partial scholarships might pay for books. Most aren't so lucky so here are some scholarships for your textbook needs. College Bookstores of America Scholarship offer a total of five $200 book scholarships that are presented yearly. There is the guideline of at least a 2.5 GPA in order to apply. This opportunity is offered to both full time and part time students.

Helping Hands Book Scholarship Program is a fantastic program that awards 50 awards raging from $100-$1000 each year to various programs and institutions. The only main guideline is that students applying for this program need to be 16 or older and living in the United States, Canada, or Mexico at the time of submitting their application.

There are also programs that aim their scholarships at certain minority groups or specific areas of study. A minority program is the Passage Institute Book Scholarship Program which is aimed at African American students with a GPA of 3.0 or higher and grants a total of five awards in the amount of $1000 yearly. Other such programs that award to specific studies are the Carl A. Scott Book Scholarships which awards to those working at a degree in social work up to $500 yearly. The NACE Book Scholarship Program which lets students add to their own library on the topic of corrosion-related literature awards $1000. As well as the Casimiro Foundation Book Scholarships in which applies to business students.

Remember that all scholarships have their own set of rules and guidelines that need to be followed closely. Each program invariably has its own deadlines to meet as well. Never assume that all scholarships have similar deadlines. Also, many programs might require transcripts to be sent in order to verify GPA and one's major if the information is necessary.

Textbook Scholarships

This is the second site with the EXACT SAME information on scholarships for books, but neither give the website addresses for any of these scholarships. A search provides nothing but links to these two websites. Does anyone know the actual sites? That would make this information much more helpful

Thanks.

I suggest just typing the

I suggest just typing the names given into a search engine if you really want the websites.

Book Scholarships

Where does one find the applications to these scholarships? Websites list these scholarships but do not provide any means to obtain an application.

Thanks

re: text book scholarship

Yeah I can't find it either.

Helping Hand Book Scholarship Program - Legitimate?

In looking up the mailing address (4480-H South Cobb Drive, Smyrna, GA) on google maps, it is a strip mall with a UPS store at the same address, so is this a PO Box? Seems interesting that there would be a processing fee when none of the hundreds of others request one. Most scholarship sites list past winners, and none we have applied to ask for a $5 processing fee, and social security #, DOB, etc. I would like proof that this is legit before sending a check with account #, signature and all other personal information that is asked for, and no way to track your application. Any other thoughts?
