How to Obtain a Private Student Loan
Submitted by Jenny on Tue, 02/19/2008 - 18:32.Choosing the right student loan is extremely important for every individual. The research has been done about the different loans, but with all the options out there how does one know which one to choose? For the most part, it depends on what an individual can qualify for. Before an individual takes any measures in finding financial backing for their academic career, one needs to file a FASFA which stands for Free Application for Federal Student Aid. Individuals might qualify for many forms of financial aid without realizing it.
So once the FASFA is completed and the individual still finds a need for a loan, so begins the process. Not everyone can qualify for a private loan through their local lending institution. Not having great credit or any credit altogether can hinder one's chance of getting a private loan from a bank or credit union. Fortunately the need for student loans has increased and banks and credit unions are offering programs in order to meet the needs of their existing customer as well as gaining business from new customers.

How to Apply for a Federal College Loan
Submitted by Jenny on Tue, 02/19/2008 - 18:20.If you need financial assistance for your college education, it may be in your best interest to apply for a Federal loan. Generally, these loans are more forgiving and don’t require pristine credit. This makes them perfect for students who do not yet have an established credit history, or for those who may have a poor credit record. Here are some tips to help making applying for a Federal loan a lot easier.
The most commonly used Federal loan is called an FSA which is short for Federal Student Aid. This is what is known as a direct loan. You will be applying directly to the US government for your loan and you will be required to pay them back. These loans are offered through the Department of Education.
Before you apply, you will need to check to see if your school participates in the Direct Loan program with the government. If they do not, you will need to find a different kind of loan. However, if they do, you can proceed to the next step. FSA loans now offer an online application process which makes it a lot easier to complete the forms and eliminates a lot of the waiting period.

This is your future and you don’t want to ruin it by making a mistake on an application. It’s easy to do though, so here are some tips to help you avoid getting tripped up.
First, never assume. If you have a question on an application, call the organization that is offering the scholarship. Never assume that you know the answer. You may find out that you are completely wrong and it will be too late to reapply. Even if it is a simple question, don’t be afraid to ask them for help. You’ll be saving them time by turning in an application with all the correct information.
