The student will also find out that even obscure sports have their own scholarships and are willing to help them pay for college. Just because a sport is not honored at the high school level, enthusiasts of that sport are willing to put up money for people with the same interests to go to college.

Scholarships for Business Schools
Submitted by Jenny on Tue, 02/19/2008 - 21:09.
By far, business schools tend to attract the most students. This is simply due to the fact that there are more opportunities for those majoring in business and the wages are typically higher than other professions. If a degree in business studies appeals to you, there are numerous ways that you can get a scholarship.
First, you will need to apply at a school that specializes in catering to those interested in business degrees. A liberal arts college may offer a few business related courses, but this is not their main area of focus. As such, the opportunities for school based scholarships in this major are pretty small. You are better off going to a school that specializes in offering courses in business management or administration, as well as accounting and other specialty courses.
Scholarships for Advanced Degrees
Submitted by Jenny on Tue, 02/19/2008 - 21:07.Scholarships are not just for the high school student who is aspiring to go to college. There are scholarships out there that are specifically designed to help the college graduate continue their studies for a masters or doctorate degree. Just because you have a four year degree does not mean that the well has run dry. On the contrary, there are many opportunities out there for the graduate student to apply to and prosper from.
Advanced degrees are expensive. Not only do you have to take your college classes, but you also have to work on a research project or dissertation. This can drain the student’s ability to work full time or in extreme circumstances the student can not work at all. This puts a dramatic financial pressure on the student and without financial assistance most students would not complete their graduate programs.

Scholarships Available in Utah
Submitted by Jenny on Tue, 02/19/2008 - 21:04.What are scholarship boards looking at when they review hundreds of applications? They are defiantly looking for that certain individual who stands out among the rest. A certain spark or shine that make them say, yep…that's the one we're looking for. This is basic for any scholarship or grant program, and the ones found in Utah are no different. They recognize that keeping those grades up in high school can be quite difficult, and look at those who not only managed to keep up good grades, but exceeded the normal expectations set my most schools. Utah offers two scholarship programs that are aimed at rewarding academic excellence.
There are two specific scholarships that award students for their efforts. The first is the Utah Centennial Scholarship. This award awards those who are so highly motivated in high school that they actually graduate early. So by getting ahead of the class, literally, you can earn up to $250 each quarter which can total as much as $1000 annually. This is definitely a chunk of change to those looking to jumpstart their academic career.
